Procurement Agent/ Buyer

Job Description

Zenon are currently searching for a Procurement Agent/Buyer on behalf of a reputable organisation.

This is a 6 month contract based in Hampshire with an immediate start.

Responsibilities include:

•Act as an authorised agent of the company with the responsibility to commit company resources through contracts and agreements for the procurement of goods and services
•Negotiate pricing and all other elements of the contract; Interpret and enforce contract terms and conditions
•Prepare and execute the negotiated contractual documents and all other pertinent or necessary binding agreements with suppliers
•Integrate and coordinate internal and external customer requirements to establish and document procurement requirements consistent with customer expectations
•Facilitate, integrate and document technical and business communications between the company, supplier(s) and customers
•Develop procurement solutions, identify viable sources, develop and issue requests for information, quotations, and proposals.
•Conduct bidder conferences as required. Leads the proposal analysis process and select best value source.
•Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams, business partners and functional groups to manage sourcing strategy.
•Develop supply base strategies to right size supplier base.
•Develop and implement supplier controls and measurements including preferred and certified suppliers. Lead regular supplier performance reviews.
•Work with suppliers to develop improvement plans and monitor progress whilst building successful supplier relationships.


The successful candidate will have experience working with a variety of subcontract types, preferably under UK MoD prime contracts. Ideally you will be CIPS or MCIPS qualified with demonstrable experience of working within Aerospace & Defence sector procurement functions.

•Knowledge of customer/supplier organisation, processes, policies and procedures, products, requirements, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, constraints
•Understanding of UK DEFCONs and demonstrate direct experience working with a variety of subcontract types under UK MoD prime contracts.
•Working knowledge of supplier selection process from compiling S.O.W., request for quotation, financial analysis of proposal and recommending best value suppliers.
•Experience of negotiating pricing and other contract terms and conditions for large performance based logistics contracts.
•Ability to monitor contract effectiveness, grow relationships and partnerships with suppliers and alliances.
•Must have a working knowledge of EVM systems
•Ability to collect, organise, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the work group level.
•Effective communication skills
•Degree or equivalent in a relative subject area
