Job Description
Zenon is delighted to be supporting a very well established Helicopter Operator in sourcing a Logistics Manager on a permanent basis located in Africa with flights and accommodation provided.

The Logistics Manager shall report directly to the Maintenance Manager. The Logistics Manager is responsible for all activities carried out within the Logistics Department and for the in –time provision of approved aircraft components, parts and material as needed by the Technical Department. The Logistics Manager is responsible for:

• Order aircraft parts, parts, materials, tools and (test) equipment as required by the company or in accordance with customer specifications and in an economical manner after the approval of the Maintenance Manager.
• Ensure that materials are purchased from approved sources.
• Develop and maintain a co-operative business relationship with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, repair/overhaul agencies, freight handling agents and regional aircraft operators.
• Evaluate supplier/sub-contractor performances in co-operation with the Quality Department.
• Prepare computer inventory based stock lists of aircraft parts/components and (test) equipment for each company base as applicable.
• Supervise and co-ordinate with the store keeper inventory control activities and collect and interpret inventory data produced.
• Develop and implement logistic organization, procedures, supporting systems and work instructions to optimize the processes.
• Monitor and if necessary take action to improve the performance of the logistical process.
• Evaluate and adjust inventory levels where applicable.
• To withhold items from being repaired or purchased if considered economically unfavourable.
• Prepare and submit to the Maintenance Manager the annual estimates of procurement and repair/overhaul expenditure and periodical revisions as necessary.
• Ensure proper staff training as required.
• Control the bonded and quarantine stores so as to ensure that the requirements are established and that goods are correctly labelled.
• Ensure that the stores are kept clean and tidy, that components and materials are correctly binned, identified and examined for damage.
• Ensure that the shelf life periods are complied with and that first in first out policies are used.
• Control and maintain adequate stock procedures and records to enable the goods issued to be traceable.

Qualification and Experience:

• The Logistics Manager should have at least five (5) year’s experience within an aviation supply environment at supervisory level.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective problem solving abilities
• Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.
• Experience working with the Civil Aviation Authorities and other Regulatory Agencies.
• Knowledgeable of Civil Aviation Authority regulations coupled with a strong logistics leadership background.
